The Nagahama distillery was founded in 2016 and is the smallest distillery in Japan. It is located on the shore of Lake Biwa, Japan’s largest lake. This is also called “Mother Lake”. The amount of water in the lake moderates the climate, which is very good for whiskey ripening. Amahagan blended whiskies are named directly from the Nagahama distillery. Because the word “Nagahama” means “Amahagan” in reverse. The Amahagan World Malt Whisky Edition No.2 is the second blended whiskey in this series. Carefully selected whiskies from overseas are blended with the finest Nagahama Newmake and matured in the Far Eastern climate. The strong temperature difference creates a special type of maturation, which is why the series is called World Malts. Production takes place in the smallest kettles in Japan.
